Description
This is a time honored tradition on the Long Island Rail Road. A towerman hands train orders to the engineer of this Montauk Point bound train at the Patchogue station. The towerman rolls up the train orders and holds it up on a long armature high enough for the engineer to grab it on the go. He also has a second one ready for the conductor who is stationed in the middle of the train. Today, even though these old trainsets have been replaced by newer state of the art equipment, this practice of issuing train orders is still in use.
I drew this entirely from common office ball point pens and highlighters. At the time that I drew this, my eye for human anatomy left much to be desired. That has improved a lot since then. Take a close look at the locomotive and you will see that someone scratched "wash me" on the side.
